Hololive fans have plenty to look forward to, as it looks like their favorite EN and ID talents could be making their own Hologra (Holo No Graffiti) appearances soon.
According to a listing posted on the Cover Corp website (thanks, SG_Maelstrom), it looks like Cover is hiring “scriptwriters for new animation content”, with the listing later specifying it’s for a 3D CG series.
Two separate listings were posted- one for Hololive EN and one for Hololive ID, which is a good sign that the two branches are getting their own spinoff of Hologra, Hololive’s scripted animated web series.
Hologra is a bit of an oddity in the Hololive community, known for its surrealist humor and bizarre gags. It makes sense that they’d want specialized writers for each branch, considering the fear of jokes just not translating well to English.
That being said, each episode does come with amazingly localized subtitles, often replacing anything that can’t be translated with the localized equivalent of it.
Interestingly enough Hololive EN isn’t totally new to scripted content- Gawr Gura and Ninomae Ina’nis were part of the UmiSea sub-unit, which featured animated skits as well.
Hololive’s Non Japanese Talents Getting 3D Models
The other really interesting implication for this is that the non-Japanese branches are finally getting their own 3D debuts- where they’ll be using 3D models with full body tracking instead of their usual Live 2Ds. Among the Japanese talents, it’s considered almost a rite of passage: The fifth generation had just gotten their 3D debuts earlier this year, as did members of Holostars- the male spin-off of Hololive.
It’s always been assumed that due to the fact talents have always mentioned the need to go to the physical Cover Corp studios to use their 3D models, the inability to travel to Japan was part of the reason the other branches hadn’t gotten their 3d debuts.
That hasn’t really stopped Hololive EN though, who had their own 3D models made for their anniversary stream, based off of the fanart of community artist Walfie.
We don’t know how far out either of these could be- considering they’re only hiring now, both the models and the Hologra debuts could be a ways out.
