Japan’s building another life sized Gundam, featuring a new variant of the popular RX 93 Nu Gundam for a new shopping complex.
Called the RX 93 FF Nu Gundam, this shares most of the same basic design as the Nu Gundam, which debuted in Char’s Counter Attack.
It’ll be put on display in the soon to open LalaPort Shopping Complex in Fukuoka, which will also feature what Oricon News describes as “a complex space that combines an open space and entertainment facilities with Gundam elements”, called the Gundam Park.
Aside from the more classic Gundam tri-color color scheme, the FF Nu Gundam has one more notable difference- the lack of the Nu Gundam’s Fin Funnels. Instead it has one of what’s described as a “Long-range Fin Funnel”, which looks like it has a Mega Particle Cannon from Zeta Gundam strapped to its back.
Considering the mobility of both the life-sized Unicorn and Odaiba Gundam statues, it’s hard to believe the life sized FF Nu Gundam won’t have some sort of trick up its sleeve. That being said, no such gimmick has been announced yet, with all the photos given so far being only mockups of the statue.
This would make it Japan’s third active life-sized Gundam, and fourth over all- they had originally built a life-sized RX 78-2 Gundam for Diver City, but that was taken down and replace with the current Unicorn Gundam.
The Nu Gundam is the final mobile suit piloted by Amuro Ray, deployed before his climactic battle against Char Aznable in Char’s Counter Attack amid the Axis colony. The novelization featured another variant of it, the Hi-Nu Gundam.
