The previously announced real life event, Genshin Impact Fes 2021 in Shanghai, has been postponed indefinitely. As you might expect, it was due to concerns over the ever-present COVID-19 pandemic. The notice can be found through the miHoYo forums (Chinese). While not officially announced per se, the paid celebratory packs that would have been released to commemorate the event have likewise been postponed. Alongside Genshin Impact Fes, the offline half of the Genshin Concert has also been postponed. The online performances have not been affected and will proceed on 3 October, 2021.
It would have been an incredible capstone to celebrate the game’s first anniversary in person, but it’s better safe than sorry. Presumably it’s on too short notice to have the events be both offline and online, something Granblue Fantasy Fes 2021 is planning to do for its own event end of this year.
One has to wonder what other in-game events they might have planned if the event had gone ahead as scheduled, besides the paid packs. We’ll have to see if they would nonetheless give out some consolation gifts alongside the online performances in due course. In any case, anyone who had plans to make the trip over will have to cancel those. As the post says, a temporary wait will make for a better reunion.
