Have your Pokémon follow you around in Pokémon GO with the new Buddy System

Niantic posted an update last Friday affirming the rumors from data miners; they’re adding in a Buddy System that allows you to pick a Pokémon to follow your character in Pokémon GO around, much like Soul Silver and Heart Gold.

This is the general idea of what it will be like, according to Niantic:

The next addition to Pokémon GO will be Buddy Pokémon. You will be able to pick your favorite Pokémon from your collection to become your buddy, opening up unique in-game rewards and experiences. Buddy Pokémon will appear alongside your Trainer avatar on your profile screen, adding helpful bonuses such as awarding Candy for walking together. You’ll also have the ability to change your Buddy Pokémon at any time.

Niantic hasn’t revealed when this update will be, but they say it’s “just around the corner”.
