The PS5 has sold over 10 million units globally, just under 9 months since its launch in November last year. Additionally, PlayStation says their first party titles have also hit multiple milestones, strengthening the platform.
The PS5 selling 10 million units sees it eclipsing the PS4, having it be the fastest-selling console in PlayStation’s history.
On top of that, here are the multiple milestones achieved by the PS5’s exclusive titles:
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales from Insomniac Games has sold more than 6.5 million copies* since releasing on November 12, 2020
- MLB® The Show™ 21 from San Diego Studio is the fastest-selling title in franchise history with more than 2 million copies sold across all platforms. The game has reached more than 4 million players since releasing on April 16, 2021
- Returnal from Housemarque, a new IP that launched to critical acclaim, has sold more than 560,000 copies since releasing on April 30, 2021
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart from Insomniac Games has sold more than 1.1 million copies* since releasing on June 11, 2021
An Elusive Console
Despite the record-breaking sales numbers, the PS5 remains one of the most elusive consoles this generation. Despite being more than half a year into its launch, the console remains sold out, though restocks of the console are becoming more frequent as customers can try their luck at placing a pre-order for it.
