Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced Gundam Evolution, a new team-based first-person shooter based on Mobile Suit Gundam.
According to 4Gamer, the game will be free-to-play, and will be released on PC some time in 2022. They also described the release as being for “multiple regions”, however the also-announced Closed Beta Test looks like it will be Japan only for now.
In addition, Bandai Namco Entertainment have also confirmed that the game will be free-to-play, though it will contain microtransactions. They haven’t elaborated as to the nature of these microtransactions, so we don’t know if mobile suits will be locked behind a paywall or not.
The Gundam Evolution Closed Beta is accepting registrations now, though it looks like they’ll only be selecting participants from within Japan. More information will be revealed at a later date, so there’s no ruling out more regional Beta tests.
Interestingly enough unlike the third person shooter Battle Operation 2, Evolution will draw on mobile suits from across the Gundam franchise with the inclusion of the Barbatos Gundam from the alternate universe of Iron-Blooded Orphans.
You’ll also be playing to objectives, with the teaser trailer showing capture points, a team shooter staple.
