SEGA has treated us to new gameplay in Lost Judgment, which takes place in Yokohama similar to Yakuza: Like A Dragon.
Similar to the Yakuza series, Lost Judgment sees you embroiled in a serious crime drama, involving murders and conspiracy that send you into Yokohama.
You still play as Yagami, the detective from the original Judgement, where you’ll have to investigate crime scenes to solve the game’s mysteries.
However, being a pseudo spin-off of the Yakuza series., that doesn’t mean Lost Judgement is entirely serious. The game shows off more of the franchises infamous minigames, including boxing, bike riding and even skateboarding. Naturally, the game also includes a rhythm-type minigame as well, where Yagami will have to show his dance moves.
Of course, the trailer also shows a lot of the game’s action sequences, likely in an attempt to remind fans that in a recent announcement, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio mentioned that Lost Judgement would succeed the previous Yakuza format of brawler combat, while future Yakuza games would keep to Like A Dragon’s turn-based RPG format instead.
Lost Judgment is the follow-up to Judgement, the newest series from Yakuza creators Ryu Ga Gotoku studio. Aside from its plot, the series has always been Yakuza games in all but name. Lost Judgement releases globally on September 24th, 2021.
