The Last of Us HBO series season 1 will apparently consist of 10 episodes according to writer and producer, Craig Mazin. The news was dropped through the Scriptnotes podcast, as flagged by Culture Crave. The Last of Us HBO season 1 will also be announcing two more directors for the series, also mentioned through the same Scriptnotes podcast episode. On board are Ali Abbasi, Kantemir Balagov and Jasmila Zbanic.
Over time, several cast members were announced for the show, with Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Merle Dandridge as Marlene just to name a few.
Presumably season 1 will be going through the events of the first game. Naturally, we’d have to wait and see how the show will pan out, as adapting for a different medium will most definitely see a degree of change. There’s nothing regarding a release date for the series yet, which will probably take a while to complete – what with the actual pandemic climate and all.
In the mean time, The Last of Us is supposedly getting a remake, while a skeleton for a Part 3 to the game franchise is already being considered. Both the original The Last of Us and Part 2 have been critically acclaimed, and there will be quite big expectations moving forward regarding any future plans.
