Bushiroad is streaming the stage play adaptation of Revue Starlight, titled Revue Starlight The Live #1 Revival on Youtube.
That being said, they’ve gone decidedly old school with its distribution, splitting the play up into three separate half-hour chunks rather than putting them all in one go. The videos are also unsubbed, so it’s less about wanting to watch it for the plot and more for just the experience of it.
Presumably streamingstage play on YouTube is part of their promotions for The Live #3, which was recently announced. Bushiroad put out a photo of the girls outfits for the Live, which more closely follow the anime designs.
They’d done the same thing with the release of Revue Starlight Rondo Rondo Rondo, wherein they released episodes of the anime but heavily restricted the locations where you could watch it.
Revue Starlight The Live, A Totally Different Experience
Despite focusing on many of the same themes as the anime, the stage plays are a significantly different entry in Bushiroad’s Stage Girl franchise. For one as you’d expect, a lot of the more fantasy elements from the anime such as the elaborate set pieces are toned down. Similarly a lot of characters personalities are a lot more different than their anime counterparts such as Top Star Tendou Maya being written almost antagonistically.
The Stage plays also marked the debut of the Seiran school, who appeared as the antagonists of Live #2 Transition, before getting their own spinoff play Blue Glitter and making their debut in Revue Starlight ReLIVE, the mobile game.
