Final Fantasy XV Director’s Paralympics video game, The Pegasus Dream Tour, is available now

The first official mobile game licensed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), The Pegasus Dream Tour, is available for download. The game is available in both English and Japanese for both iOS and Android devices.

As a social sports game, players can create their own para-athletes to take part and compete in various sporting events. Besides competing, these player-created characters, also known as “Mines” can also train and even meet and make new friends within the game in facilities such as the athlete cafe.

The game takes place in Pegasus City, and upon starting up the game, players will be greeted by the city’s mascot, Doraemon.

Players can also meet real-life para-athletes as NPCs in the game. From Canadian wheelchair basketball player Patrick Anderson to blind soccer player Silvio Velo of Argentina, Paralympics fans are in for a treat.

The Pegasus Dream Tour is the first game from Final Fantasy XV and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII director Hajime Tabata’s studio, JP Games. 2 years ago, we were able to interview JP Games’ Chief Branding Officer, Tomohiro Hasegawa on the development of the game. You can read the interview here.

The game aims to let people to enjoy the Paralympics in an innovative way by allowing their avatars - called Mine - to gather inside Pegasus City with friends during the current situation when visiting the actual sporting venues is physically difficult. Players can train in a number of para-sports including the precision-ball-sport boccia, football 5-a-side, athletics, wheelchair basketball and participate in online tournaments. Part of the profits generated by in-game items will be donated to the Agitos Foundation, the leading global organization that develops sport activities for people with impairments as a tool for changing lives.
