Kingdom Come: Deliverance Switch release started off as an accident, but is becoming reality

Medieval open world RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance will be getting a Switch release. However, it was not a planned decision from the start. In an interview during the Koch Primetime E3 2021 live stream, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, PR Manager of Warhorse Studios, admitted that the Switch version of Kingdom Come Deliverance was not planned.

It all started towards the end of 2020, when the studio was preparing to release the Royal Edition of the game for PS4 and Xbox One. At the time, the studio never even considered a Switch version for the game. However, due to a labelling error in Japan, the game was branded as a Switch title as well. News started to spread and snowball back to the ears of Warhorse Studios employees.

As a result, the developer went with the flow and thanks to the partnership with Koch Media, was able to work on porting the game to Switch. Under the label of Prime Matter, Saber Interactive also joined forces in bringing the game to the Switch. Considering the Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an incredibly demanding game, having the assistance of the studio that brought Witcher 3 to Switch should prove invaluable.

For those who are unfamiliar, Kingdom Come: Deliverance brings players to Bohemia during the rule of the Holy Roman Empire. The game’s combat is considered to be the most accurate video game depiction of medieval European sword fighting to date.
