Blizzard has revealed the release window for Diablo Immortal, the mobile entry of the popular Diablo franchise.
In Activision Blizzard’s quarterly earnings report, the company mentioned that Diablo Immortal was on track to release later this year.
“On mobile, Diablo Immortal entered its second phase of testing and is on track for global release later this year”, the report says.
Diablo Immortal is currently in the middle of its second Technical Alpha, which features the new Crusader class as well as more endgame content. Many fans got their first taste of the game late last year when the first Technical Alpha launched, introducing players to how the Diablo experience would be translated to mobile.
The report also acknowledges the popularity of the other Diablo title that was shown to the public, Diablo II Resurrected. Activision Blizzard didn’t give a release window for this title, either, though they mentioned that it has the highest viewership of any of Blizzard’s public tests.
It also doesn’t make any mention of Diablo IV, which is the third Diablo game currently in production. Considering that it has no public tests to record metrics for, it’s no surprise that the report makes no mention of the title.
Overall Blizzard’s revenue grew 7% in the first quarter of 2021, bolstered by last year’s Shadowlands launch for World of Warcraft.
According to senior analyst Daniel Ahmad, 70% of Activision Blizzard’s revenue in Q1 2021 came from in-app purchases. From our own speculation, we could see that number go up after the release of Diablo Immortal, which has a much more aggressive in-app purchases compared to World of Warcraf: Shadowlands.
