Star Ocean: Anamnesis Japanese servers shut down

Star Ocean: Anamnesis will shut down for good, as its Japanese servers will also cease to operate. Star Ocean: Anamnesis had a global server, but that one shut down back in 2019. The game will officially close 24 June 14:00 JST. In-app purchases have since ceased. Details can be found here.

The game will continue to be updated until the last day, with the last series of characters to be implemented post the 6 May maintenance. “Ashley” and “Dawn” will be available through the exchange shop with every 10-pull in the Grand Thanksgiving Festival gacha that started 22 April, and will remain available for exchange until end of service. Some of these exchange items have also been distributed via logging in. The game will be hosting log in bonuses, campaigns, various rerun events and gacha as well.

The game will be getting an offline version, allowing you to read Episodes 1 to 3, and view acquired character models among other things. Select collaboration characters can be utilized in the offline version, namely properties from tri-Ace and Square Enix. Should you uninstall the game prior to the release of the offline version, you won’t be able to transfer your data over. Details are subject to change, but you can expect to not have all functions be available in the offline version.
