Ramlethal Dominates Guilty Gear Strive Players Picks

Ramlethal appears to be the most popular character in Guilty Gear Strive, based on feedback from the community following the recent Open Beta for Guilty Gear Strive.

In the most recent edition of the Developers Backyard, the team behind the new Guilty Gear title posted the findings of the exit survey sent out after the beta. Two of the questions were based around which of the game’s characters players picked most, as well as which of the game’s characters were players favorite.

While Ramlethal wasn’t a clean sweep in actual playtime, she was still a very strong pick, never dipping below 3rd most played character in any of the game’s regions (Japan, Asia, South America, North America, Europe and Oceania). Of the regions she was the number one most played character in all of them except Asia (Sol) and South America (Giovanna).

When it came to the favorite character question however, Ramlethal won by a landslide, being the number one character pick for all the regions. She’s followed closely by Giovanna, who was the second most popular character in every region except Japan and Asia.

Ramlethal was largely considered one of the best characters in the Guilty Gear Strive beta, due to her fast startup Overdrive allowing her to react to threats way better than other characters. Despite going through a major gameplay overhaul compared to her playstyle in previous games, Ramlethal mains were generally happy about the changes thanks to her better toolset.

She’s also one of the two returning characters from Guilty Gear Xrd, the predecessor to Strive. She shared this disctinction with Leo Whitefang, who didn’t break top 5 in usability or fan favor.

The developers backyard had other tidbits of information to share too, such as the overwhelming community support for rollback netcode in the game. The developers also responded to criticism of Strive’s higher damage, saying they would look into tweaking the damage values. However, they also said higher damage overall would be here to stay, citing it as a core part of Guilty Gear Strive ideology.
