Gamevil just launched their second closed beta test for ArcheAge Begins a few days ago, and Android users get to enjoy the game for a 2-week period. We are lucky to get a chance to participate in the CBT, so here is our first 15-min gameplay:
ArcheAge Begins is based on well-known PC MMORPG, ArcheAge and it is actually a prequel instead of continuing story from ArcheAge. You would not be able to see an open-world like ArcheAge, but the highly detailed 3D environment and impressive cinematic scenes will be able to fill you up.
The game promotes real-time strategy which is quite common now, and you will need to build a battle deck of 4 heroes at most. The special thing is that during the battle you can choose to attack any of the enemy available by pointing the hero skill to its relevant number. You can also change the sequence of your hero skill.
Heroes come in 5 classes – Warrior, Knight, Assassin, Magician and Musician. All of them have a unique talent tree and can evolve when it reached 5 stars (can’t wait to see my heroes evolve!). Not to mention the various hero costumes too.
Another than that, you can do economy activities in ArcheAge Begins. Trading and Crafting is not a new thing to me, but Fishing and Stock Breeding is quite unique in a mobile game like this. In Stock Breeding, you can even feed a cow (which is actually one of the Heroes) the same way you battle to get milk. While in the Auction House, you can buy and sell goods. I like the Plunder feature too, this is where you can attack other Expeditions that are trading to earn Gold.
My Heroes’ levels are still low so I couldn’t participate in Raid yet, but obviously it will be an exciting feature since you can form a party with people you know. There are Territory Battle too, you can choose which Liege to team up thus battle for points. Winning side will be able to access the opposing territory’s trade route for a week. I am looking forward to Annihilation as well (couldn’t join because my Expedition level is too low).
Overall ArcheAge Begins is good especially on the economy features. There is still some space for improvement (for example I will prefer fishing manually over auto-fishing), but ArcheAge Begins is only in beta test so we will see how things roll out when it is officially released.
