The previously announced Alchemy Stars closed beta is now underway, and from the splash screen image shared on Reddit, it seems that the game is actually available in English, or at least has an English language option! While there has been no direct announcement regarding a simultaneous global release, the fact that Alchemy Stars is running a limited closed beta in English is already highly unusual for a presumably Japan only release game.
This testing phase will last one week, so we should be seeing more gameplay coming out from at least Japanese sites. On the English-speaking side, commenters have pointed out it appears to work similarly to another game known as Pocoron Dungeon, where your selected character moves along coloured tiles and deals damage and combos according to the distance travelled.
You can watch the initial closed beta announcement trailer below:
The testing phase’s recommended specifications were given as follows:
- iOS: Version 9.0 and above, iPhone 6S and newer
- Android: Version 4.1 and above, no RAM specified
Pending any changes, this shouldn’t be too different from the full release. Now we’ll just have to wait and see if the Summer 2021 launch will actually be for worldwide. Feel free to peruse the Japanese official Twitter for now.
