Fortnite creator Epic Games acquired Tonic Games Group, the parent company of developer Mediatonic, the studio behind Fall Guys. Both Epic Games and Tonic Games Group have not revealed the exact sum of the deal.
In Mediatonic’s blog, the developers reassured fans by stating that the game will remain purchasable on Steam and PlayStation. Furthermore, the acquisition will not affect players’ gameplay. The developers also expressed interest in bringing content from fellow Epic Games IPs Fortnite and Rocket League over to Fall Guys.
According to Tonic Games Group Co-Founder and CEO Dave Bailey:
“At Tonic Games Group we often say that ‘everyone deserves a game that feels like it was made for them.’ With Epic, we feel like we have found a home that was made for us. They share our mission to build and support games that have a positive impact, empower others and stand the test of time and we couldn’t be more excited to be joining forces with their team.”
Back in 2019, Epic Games acquired Psyonix, the creator of Rocket League. This acquisition resulted in the game leaving Steam and appearing as a free-to-play title on the Epic Games Store.
As for Fall Guys, the game is heading to Xbox One and Switch later this summer.
