Netflix’s upcoming anime adaptation of the popular Way of the Househusband series has dropped its first trailer, giving fans a first glimpse of the surreal slice-of-life comedy as well as announcing the release date.
According to Netflix, the Way of the Househusband anime will release on April 8th. They haven’t mentioned if it would be an all-at-once drop like it was for Ultraman, or if they would be following a weekly format such as with many other anime co-produced by Netflix.
The trailer sets up the basic premise of the anime, in that legendary “Immortal” Tatsu, one of the most feared Yakuza, gives up his life of crime to get married and be a full-time househusband.
It mostly introduces the main cast of characters such as Tatsu, his wife Miku and his former gangmate Masa. We also get a glimpse of some of the early chapters of the manga in anime form, such as the gag with Tatsu being stopped by the police because he was speeding to deliver Miku’s bento that she left behind.
Way of The Househusband has an almost cult following, getting both a live-action and manga adaptation. Kenjiro Tsuda is playing Tatsu, and is the only character whose voice actor has been revealed so far.
The Way of the Househusband anime was first announced back during the Netflix Anime festival as part of their 2021 lineup of anime, but was previously given no release date.
