Terraria Not Coming To Google Stadia Following Customer Service Blunder

The developers of Terraria have announced that it would not be coming to Google Stadia, following issues faced by the developer and a lack of communication on Google’s part in resolving it.

In a Twitter thread, Re-Logic’s co-founder Andrew Spinks mentioned that he’d been having account issues with Google, losing access to Gmail, Google Play, YouTube and Google Drive. According to Spinks, his account had been disabled for three weeks, without any warning or response from Google on the matter.

“@Google [Google’s Twitter handle] my account has now been disabled for over 3 weeks. I still have no idea why, and after using every resource I have to get this resolved you have done nothing but given me the runaround”, the first of Spinks’ tweets reads.

According to Spinks, the disabling of his account had cost him all of his purchases on Google Play, including his movies. On an even more dire note, he’s also lost access to Google Drive, which could have stored any number of important files.

As a result, Spinks made the decision that Terraria would no longer be coming to Google Stadia. He says he knew the action would be tantamount to burning bridges in one of his follow-up tweets.

“I absolutely have not done anything to violate your terms of service, so I can take this no other way than you deciding to burn this bridge. Consider it burned. #Terraria for @GoogleStadia is canceled. My company will no longer support any of your platforms moving forward”, he says.

Considering Terraria is available on Android devices, there’s no telling if this means he would be pulling the game from the Google Play store, too. At the time of writing, the game is still available on the app store.

This certainly comes as a blow to Google Stadia, who just recently announced the shuttering of their first-party studios, relying more on third party publishers to use the platform.

Coincidentally this wasn’t Stadia’s fault per se, but it’s certainly a blow to the platform either ways.
