Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer, Yoshinori Kitase revealed that the development for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 is progressing smoothly. He made this statement when asked about his aspirations for 2021 by Famitsu.
This definitely builds up hype and expectation amongst fans who are waiting for the second part with bated breath. The first part, which ended on a cliffhanger of sorts, suggested that the rest of the story will unfold differently. Players are desperate to find out how Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s second part will continue post-Midgar. For instance, one simply needs to search for “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2” on YouTube and a vast amount of theory and speculation videos will pop up.
Unlike most video game series, the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not a sequel, but a direct continuation of the game. Dividing the story of Final Fantasy 7 pays homage to the original 1997 PS1 title. The original Final Fantasy 7 shipped on three discs. Considering the volume of content in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, developing a new game as a new part makes sense.
However, Kitase also reminded everyone to wait a bit longer for details. After all, Square Enix still has to adhere to Japan’s workplace regulations and other restrictions that rose because of COVID-19.
Exactly how smoothly Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2’s development is progressing remains unknown. Asuka Yoshikawa, Aerith’s motion capture actress, tweeted on Christmas Day revealing that the motion capture recording was already underway.
All we can do for now is to place our trust in Kitase and his team.
