Twin Mirror, the latest psychological thriller by studio Dontnod Entertainment is available for purchase now.
The game is a digital-only release, and can be bought from the Playstation store, as well as the Microsoft Store.
Here’s the summary for Twin Mirror, courtesy of Bandai Namco Entertainment, the game’s publisher:
Following the tragic death of his best friend, Sam Higgs decides to pay him one last tribute and comes back to Basswood, his childhood town. It quickly becomes obvious that this little West Virginian city holds numerous dark secrets. The former investigative journalist employs his unique deductive skills to uncover the mysteries surrounding the city and its inhabitants. Confronted with his past, Sam is torn between his quest for truth and his desire to reconnect with his loved ones. Who can he really trust?
Twin Mirror has Sam using a Mind Palace, which allows him to retreat into his psyche and relive past events, helping players figure out what to do next. They’ll also have a Double, which is a more empathetic version of Sam, to see how characters would react based on their choices.
According to Dontnod Entertainment, Sam’s analytical skills are meant to act as a double-edged sword, as he comes off as cold and can hurt the people around him.
Sam also spends a lot of the game talking to a therapist in his head, trying to get him to drop the conspiracy theories, though with limited success if the trailer is anything to go by.
