Fans who had been holding out for the Nintendo Switch version will finally have their patience rewarded as the Doom Eternal Nintendo Switch Release Date has been announced. The game will drop on the Nintendo Switch December 8th, 2020.
The game will not be getting a physical release, however, and will instead be digital only. According to Gamespot, retailers will receive a digital code for the game to sell in-store. Those who pre-ordered the game will need to redeem their codes before December 23rd in order to be eligible for the bonuses, such as a free copy of Doom 64 for the Nintendo Switch.
It should be noted that this version of Doom Eternal does not come with The Ancient Gods story DLC. Instead, this is more akin to the original retail release for Doom Eternal, which came out earlier this year. Bethesda has said that the switch port of the DLC will instead be out at a later date.
Doom Eternal is the follow-up to 2016’s soft reboot of the Doom franchise, featuring much faster gameplay and even more sprawling levels full of secrets and collectibles. Its Switch release was initially supposed to be available at launch, though it was delayed indefinitely until this announcement. As a result, many on the internet have been looking forward to news regarding the Doom Eternal Nintendo Switch release date.
Doom Eternal was critically well received, even going so far as to be nominated for Game of the Year at this year’s The Game Awards.
