Wizardry VA has been announced for mobile devices via Drecom. As you might expect from the name, it will be a 3D dungeon RPG crawler. Wizardry VA will also be available worldwide, though no release date has been announced, or even if that will be its on-release name. Drecom is also looking for staff and development partners to work on the game, with interested staff members applying here and development partners can contact them here.
Gematsu points out that Drecom had recently acquired the copyright and trademark rights to Wizardry, a long running series which has seen Japan-exclusive spin off titles. A first look of the gameplay can be seen below:
The first game of the series released back in 1981 for the Apple II, with the last main line title being for PC in 2001. Wizrogue: Labyrinth of Wizardry was first launched in Japan for mobile devices in 2014, the original releases having been discontinued. It was translated into English in 2017 as well as made available on Android once more, removing the free to play elements and opting to be a premium title instead.
We’ll have to see if this newest title will also be a premium one instead of utilizing microtransactions, but without any hint of release window, we’ll just have to stay tuned and find out.
