Playstation Asia has announced a special livestream to celebrate the launch of the PS5. The PS5 Asia Celebration Showcase starts 11th November, 11pm and features prizes for fans who tune in.
Following the instructions on the Playstation website will allow fans to win one of the following prizes:
- Playstation 5
- PULSE 3D Headset
- 12 Months of Playstation Plus
In addition, those who make it as far as completing the second of the event’s “Quests” will get an exclusive “Space Fantasy” theme for the PS4.
**UPDATE (11/11/20): Fans from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines can now enter the contest and win a PS5 via this link
No Consoles For Malaysians
If you’re Malaysian and thinking this is your ticket to getting a PS5, you may want to slow down and read the fine print.
By diving through the event’s Terms and Conditions page, you’ll find that Malaysians are actually ineligible for any of the above prizes, bar the Space Fantasy theme. The eligibility is as follows:
- PlayStation®5: PSN account holders in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore.
- PULSE 3D™ Wireless Headset: PSN account holders in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore.
- PlayStation®Plus 12-Month Membership: PSN account holders in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore.
- PS4 Space Fantasy Theme: PSN account holders in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia
This is because the event is actually a series of Quests, with tasks for viewers to complete ending in a best comment competition. According to the website’s Terms and Conditions, Malaysians are not eligible to participate in Quest 3 or 4, meaning they can only get far enough to get the special theme.
On Facebook, many netizens are expressing their frustration with Playstation, who have been mum on details of the console’s Malaysian launch.
Currently Singapore is the only country in the SEA region to even have a confirmed launch for the PS5, and even then there’s rumors of a global shortage of the next-gen console.
