Belgian developers Warcave announced Black Legend, a turn-based tactics game. It features a dark fantasy setting inspired by 17th Century European folkore. The game is slated to come out in 2021.
Lead a band of mercenaries into the cursed city of Grant, a metropolis shrouded in a deadly fog that inflicts madness upon anyone in its path. Use steel, alchemy, and close-quarter tactics to battle a deadly cult of fanatics and devout followers of the great alchemist Mephisto, who have taken control of the city.
The game has you control a band of mercenaries, as they investigate and deal with a cult in the local village. Just from its description, the game sounds like a page out of H.P Lovecraft’s serials.
According to Warcave, the game will have a strict focus on tactical gameplay. Players will need to master unit placement, as well as ability combos to succeed in their journey.
Moreover, Black Legend promises robust character customization, so you can upgrade your mercenaries as you progress through the game. Warcave describes the game as having “Cross-class abilities”,
Additionally, the game will feature monsters straight out of medieval Europe’s bestiaries. Warcave says they drew inspiration from many creatures of Belgian, Dutch and German folklore. Expect to encounter monsters based on Nekkers, Halewijn, Witte Wieven and Old Red Eyes.
Black Legend will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch early 2021
