A new Hyrule Warriors was announced today. Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity is a prequel to Breath of the Wild, set 100 years before the games. It releases on Nintendo Switch November 20th, 2020.
The video shows Eji Aonuma, producer of the Legend of Zelda series. He and Yosuke Hayashi, producer of Hyrule Warriors discuss the game.
The game focuses on the Great Calamity, also known as Calamity Ganon. While it is referenced in Breath of the Wild, Eji Aonuma says Hyrule Warriors would be a great way to see it first hand.
Similar to previous Hyrule Warriors games, Age of Calamity will feature “one-on-one-thousand” combat. However, unlike its predecessors, Calamity will also have a new art style. This art style more closely follows Breath of the Wild.
The trailer shows several of the game’s playable characters, with the promise of more on launch. Though never named in the trailer, these characters are probably the four champions, which the player meets in Breath of the Wild.
Aonuma also gave us an update that the sequel to Breath of the Wild was still in production, but says it would be a while more before they had something to show.
