Ian Chiew, Lead Concept artist at Sucker Punch Studios, published his portfolio for Ghost of Tsushima via his website today.
Chiew grew up in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and worked on the pre-production for Ghost of Tsushima. He was also a part of establishing the visual brand of the game.
On top of that, he also designed the loading screens used in the game. The black-ink-on-white-background is a bold look, that helps sell the traditional Japanese aesthetic of the game.
He also showed off the visual explorations he and the team did to make many of the game’s locations. “It was important to push bold stylistic choices that breathed life and story into spaces”, he said. “Such as the yellow Ginkgo trees of the Golden Forest and the bright white flowers of the Akashima Wetlands.
Ian Chiew is a Malaysian-born concept artist working in Seattle. He worked as a Concept Artist on Ghost of Tsushima. Now, he’s a Senior Concept Artist with Sucker Punch Productions. His portfolio also includes titles such as Forza Motorsport 6, and several unannounced titles.
