Japan-based game developer ENDROLL has just open pre-registration for Micro Vibration of Galapagos, its upcoming AR game for the Android and iOS platforms. This is going to be a full-priced title, although if you pre-register now, you will be entitled to a rather hefty discount.
For first some story things – the year is 2005, and it is the time when the postal service in Japan became privatised, while drama Nobuta wo Produce became a household hit. We are introduced to Isobe, a third-year high school student who is in the midst of updating his diary as the cultural festival looms. Fast forward into the future and Isobe is now a jaded 33-year old who is envious of his high-achieving former classmates. As Isobe contemplates life, he is sent back into the past. A mysterious organisation known simply as “Butterfly Rescue”, sent our protagonist into the past and granted him an opportunity to alter the past to shape his present. Little else is known about this enigmatic entity.
Micro Vibration of Galapagos is being marketed as experiential game project, which utilises t AR technology to develop a story that connects the virtual world to reality. We are not sure what the exactly entails, but as with all games using this technology, expect to be moving around and playing outdoors a lot.
