Monster Rancher 2 had just been announced to have a Switch and Mobile port for both Android and iOS!
A brief summary of the game to anyone who are interested, Monster Rancher 2 is a 1999 Playstation video game and is the second installment of the Monster Rancher franchise.
The gameplay revolves around raising, fighting as well as breeding monsters. The main character is never seen on the main screen and never talks to anyone directly in the game. Instead, all the interactions such as dialogue and actions are done through the help of the trainer’s assistant Colt and her Toucan Joy.
Koei Tecmo the developer of Monster Rancher franchise, has released the debut trailer for the enhanced port of Monster Rancher 2 coming this fall for the price of 2,820 Yen (~RM113.00) in Japan.
In this port, a couple of features have been enhanced, including 3D graphics, the “Part-Time job” mini-game, and an increase of the available monsters from the original 200 to 400 which is the largest amount of monsters in the franchise.
In the video trailer, they have also announced “Slate Reproduction” feature which was originally in the game will be making a comeback. Players are now able to import their monsters from Monster Rancher to Monster Rancher 2.
Although, this method of monster reproduction via the “Slate Reproduction” differs between the Switch and Android/iOS versions of Monster Rancher 2. You can only import the monsters from the same platform. Depending on the types of monsters, they may also change to a different type.
The Monster Rancher 2 port will have bug fixes as well as fine-tuning from the original PlayStation release. Koei Tecmo gathered improvement feedback from series fans via the Monster Rancher series official Twitter account, and some of that feedback will be apparent in the game.
In addition to downloading and battling against monsters raised by other players, features such as the Bluetooth controller support and tournament mode will be added to the port of the original Monster Rancher post-release will be supported in Monster Rancher 2 at launch.
And just like in the first game, the Switch version supports local two-player battles with one Joy-Con per player.
“Disc Stone Reproduction,” Monster Rancher‘s key feature that lets you create monsters from CDs, was reproduced via a “Music Search” database for the port of the original Monster Rancher, and that database returns for Monster Rancher 2.
Even if you do not own the CD itself, you can enjoy monster reproduction by inputting the music information. With 20 years of music and the largest number of monsters in the series, you can enjoy creating monsters with twice the effect.
We can only wait for more details regarding of Monster Rancher 2 along with its Switch and Mobile port.
