China-based developer, miHoYo, appears to have trademarked Honkai Impact 4, as spotted by Twitter user Daniel Ahmad. miHoYo is also currently developing Genshin Impact, which will have its final closed beta coming up in July 2020.

Honkai Impact 3rd itself is a sequel in the Honkai series, the third, would you believe it or not. The game launched in China 14 October 2016, so it’ll be coming to four years now, which is a pretty long time for a originally mobile-based title. Honkai Gakuen, 3rd’s predecessor, launched in 2014, which makes it a 2 year gap between it and the later title. Four years seems like a fair estimation to begin work on a sequel title, in that case.
It might be worth thinking that they could want to release on multiple platforms – perhaps simultaneously – as they are doing with Genshin Impact. Honkai Impact 3rd does have a PC client now, while Genshin will be heading to home consoles in the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
Players might want to keep an eye out for later in the year when the fourth anniversary of Honkai Impact comes round for its original Chinese launch to see what announcements await for the domestic server, and to see if the trademarked Honkai Impact 4 gets revealed then.
