Publisher Square Enix and developer Aiming has announced that Dragon Quest Tact will launch for the Android and iOS smartphones around summer time in Japan.
Along with the announcement is the opening of the pre-registration on the game’s official website. Users can sign up for the game via Twitter or email. There is some semblance of a plot here, but the gist of it is humanity having to fend off a demon lord that was once sealed.
Command and battle familiar monsters from the Dragon Quest series. The battle map is made of squares which will be occupied by 3D monsters. The turn-based combat from the mainline games will have elements taken from them to be in the mobile game.
In any case it’s not the series’ first foray into mobile games, having things like Dragon Quest Walk, Dragon Quest of the Stars (whose worldwide release is approaching) to start. You can check out the Dragon Quest Tact website here. Scroll down towards the bottom and click on the 3D monsters just to see their animations. There is very clearly a gacha element here, which will presumably be for units and weapons. After building up your own team, you will go on skirmishes and battles. To succeed, you will need a good mix of units, which is true for games of this genre.
