TLOU PII / The Last of Us Part II has gone gold, namely confirming the game is ready to ship to meet the new 19 June release date for the PS4. It’s gone through quite a bit of trouble, from an initial indefinite delay and, as some of you might have heard, experienced leaks for the full game. You can listen to Neil Druckmann’s message in full as follows:
The delays have been in part due to the whole coronavirus pandemic, causing issues in logistics. The indefinite delay had been announced due to the fact Naughty Dog wanted to get the game out to as many people as possible at the same time – while Square Enix tried to combat this by sending out game copies earlier to certain regions, it had presented its own set of challenges.
He wishes to congratulate the team on a job well done on pushing the game out at last, and in a few weeks, the game will finally launch to many waiting fans. “No matter what you’ve seen or heard or read, nothing compares to playing this thing from beginning to end,” he says, doubtless referring to the leaks.
We’re almost there to see the next chapter of Ellie’s story. Are you ready for the “gold” that is TLOU PII?
