While EXOS Heroes isn’t officially available globally yet, some enterprising players have figured out a way for you to play this South Korean mobile RPG in English! Shared on Reddit by u/CANNON_the_only, they credit the Exos Heroes Facebook Group for devising the method.
As the post notes, a rooted device is required. The steps provided are as follows:
1. Navigate to /data/data/com.linegames.exos/shared_prefs/
2. Open com.linegames.exos.v2.playerprefs.xml
3. Find the line <string name=”TextLanguage”>Korean</string>
4. Change it to <string name=”TextLanguage”>English</string>
5. Find the line <string name=”Language”>Korean</string>
6. Change it to <string name=”Language”>English</string>
The result will appear as such:
The Reddit post posits that the developers are gradually translating the game, spitballing a roughly 90% completion, so the English text is not entirely complete. As it is changing the string in the Korean version, you can attempt this by downloading the Korean version of EXOS Heroes then following the steps to play the game in English.
The official global release is expected for “early 2020”, so if we take into consideration the apparently mostly complete translation, then we might be able to expect the game soon enough. Do be aware that changing the language in this manner could be against terms of service, so do at your own risk.
In the mean time, you can check out some of our gameplay from G-STAR 2019 below, to get an idea of how it plays like:
