Multimedia project 22/7, by way of entertainment juggernauts Aniplex, Sony Music Records and Akimoto Yasushi, will be getting a rhythm game, which goes by the name 22/7 Music Time, because of course. Scheduled for a release in spring 2020, the game is to be made available for the Android and iOS platforms.
The game features all 11 idols from the titular group and rudimentary story mode that delves deeper into each character. It boasts a fully-fleshed out 3D mode and an MV mode if you just want to see the girls perform. Of course, the meat of the game is the songs themselves, and 22/7 Music Team features both original and cover songs. Given the backing behind the game, the cover song list is rather extensive and comprises the likes as follows:
・ヘビーローテーション
・走れ!ペンギン
・オーマイガー!
・コネクト
・oath sign
・SPEED STAR
・センチメンタルクライシス
・IGNITE(蓝井エイル)
・ideal white
・桃色タイフーン
・Preserved Roses
・象さんのすきゃんてぃ
・青いスタスィオン
・時の河を越えて
At a glance, it has the makings of what one would expect from games of such a genre, though how it plans to stand out from the rest remains to be seen. Based on what it is shown so far, the game appears to be fairly formulaic, so if anything, it will end up being functional at the very least. However, with such a crowded market, the game definitely needs something to stand out from the rest, but what that is remains to be seen.
For the time being, be sure to tune in the currently airing anime to build some context before delving into 22/7 Music Time. The basis of such games is the connection built between the user and the idols, and the anime is a good platform to facilitate that. If you like what you see, only then pick up the game when it comes out in two months or so. For more information, drop by the official website.
