The Eternals will be joining you at their base form, so this guide will help you pick out the “strongest” of those at that level. They are all incredibly strong once fully uncapped and fill their specific niches, but it requires quite a lot of farming. Due to the time investment, it is also recommended to pick your favourite character of the lot for extra motivation.
This guide does not take into consideration the usability of the weapons required to recruit them. Their 5-star usability is provided if you prefer your character to be a long term investment. The Eternals are in numerical order below, with Japanese name and localized name.
UNO / ANRE
What does he do?
In one word: the defender. With his Skill 3, it means that you can completely nullify all damage except plain damage which bypasses all defense buffs. His Skill 1 is a nuke that does more damage to a foe in overdrive. Skill 2 is a Substitute, where he will absorb all one-ally attacks.
Why pick him?
- You are dying when you play Water
- You think his mustache is cool
His 5-star upgrade
- Charge attack provides a Strength buff (higher damage at higher HP) and a 2000 HP shield
- Skill 1 becomes an even better nuke to a foe in overdrive
- Skill 2 gives him Assassin for the entire turn i.e. a huge spike in damage
- Skill 4 is a defensive skill where all elemental damage is reduced by 50% – NOT nullified – and surviving allies will heal back up from damage taken
SONG (SORN) / TWEYEN
What does she do?
An easy one button debuffer, and is capable of inflicting Paralyze: a debuff that will stop all foe attacks and triggers – unless specified – for 60 seconds.
Why pick her?
- You like cute archer girls with a punny attitude and a bit of a troubled past
- You like Silva, her Best Friend, and want to reunite the duo
- You want to help other people trivialize general content with Paralyze
- Exceptions include bosses who resist Paralyze and bosses whose triggers occur even with Paralyze
Her 5-star upgrade
- Charge attack gives 100% critical chance, for 50% extra damage for your light team
- Gets bigger nuke damage on her Skill 3
- Skill 4, colloquially referred simply as “Extend”, allows her to extend debuff timers by 90 seconds
- Typically the biggest use for this is to Paralyze a boss for over 2 minutes
SARASA / THREO
What does she do?
A general quality of life character capable of inflicting massive plain damage at the cost of 99% of her HP, bypassing high defense monsters like EXP Slimes. Can deal additional plain damage on her second weapon form charge attack.
Why pick her?
- You like feral, cute girls
- You want to tag raids with minimal effort
- You want to “slime blast” more easily
- You want to defeat trash mobs in Arcarum mode more easily
Her 5-star upgrade
- Charge attack gets upgraded to give her Earth attack up, and her plain damage on weapon swap increases to around 2 million
- Increased damage cap for her Skill 3
- Skill 4 gives her 3 turns of full Charge Bar to slam out the damage
QUATRE / FEOWER
What does he do?
Can provide random debuffs on a nuke, and increases max charge diamonds so that you don’t need to bring it on your main character. Can extend useful buffs for an extra turn. If you’re lucky, he also refreshes all his skill cooldowns for additional buff extensions, and more nukes.
Why pick him?
- You are a fan of Fukuyama Jun (notably, Persona 5′s Joker)
- You like cat boys
- You like calm-looking characters with explosive undercurrent
His 5-star upgrade
- Charge attack upgraded to also provide multi attack
- Skill 1 provides one additional debuff, and a unique debuff – Forfeit – that stacks on top of the debuff cap. Corrosion is also unique to him, giving foes lowered debuff resistance and damage over time
- Skill 2 also dispels a buff
- Skill 4 refreshes his Skills 1 and 2, and lets him use them 4 times in a row
- Note, this means you can use Skill 1 four times, then Skill 2 once, for example, and they will go on cooldown
FUNF / FIF
What does she do?
The quintessential healer, in one tiny package.
Why pick her?
- You want to protect her
- You want to keep your team alive
- Note that Skill 3 is a single target Auto Revive that also provides a variety of useful buffs for that character
- ATK / DEF up, multi attack up
Her 5-star upgrade
- Charge attack upgraded to also inflict Dark Attack down, and multi attack down on foe
- Skill 1 upgrades Refresh to Revitalize – provides Charge Bar when full HP (10%) and Strength (higher damage at higher HP)
- Skill 2 also gives Debuff Resistance 100%
- Skill 4 heals all allies to 100%, and revives in reverse order, and gives them the Guts effect (survives lethal damage at 1HP)
- Reverse order means she will revive the person who died last, not first
SIX / SEOX
What does he do?
Gets his stacks and just keeps hitting. He will always guarantee double attack even with debuffs. His charge attack lets him dodge damage and keeps his stacks so that he will always hit hard. Why pick him?
- You really like the feature image
- You like an actually awkward character when his mask is removed

Why pick him?
- You like Suwabe Junichi

- You want your Wind team to hit really, really hard with their charge attacks

- Skill 4 fills all allies charge bar, gives increased charge attack damage, and charge attack damage cap
OKTO / EAHTA

NIO / NIYON

Why pick her?
- You think she’s really, really pretty
- You like the elder sister archetype
- You want her to help you get better loot (in theory)
Her 5-star upgrade
- Charge attack inflicts a unique debuff that both blinds and does damage over time, as well as providing skill damage cap up
- Skill 1 increases Bounty level to 3
- Skill 2 also inflicts a player side debuff that assumes the foe is in Break mode, so that she will always deal increased amage
- Skill 3 provides a bonus damage effect and guaranteed triple attack for 2 turns
- Skill 4 gives all allies a bonus damage effect, guaranteed triple attack, and increased attack for 2 turns
The right choice depends on what you want. You can read little blurbs on the Eternals after completing the first part of the event, so see if any of them further appeal to you. Whatever it is, be it a gold brick or a free Eternal, be sure to have fun in Granblue Fantasy! Even once the event is over, you can still look this over to decide your next one.
You can get a really cool skin when you get all 10 base level Eternals, as well as a Wonder that provides passive boosts to the group as a whole, too. Even after all that and getting the Eternals to 5-star, there’s still yet one more thing you can do, but you can find out yourself once you get there.
