As part of its newly-launched D4DJ multimedia project, Bushiroad announced that it will be releasing D4DJ Groovy Mix, a DJ-centric rhythm game for the Android and iOS platforms. The game has open pre-registrations and is scheduled for a release in Autumn 2020.
The game is being developed by Donuts, the same people behind Tokyo 7th Sisters, so that should serve as some sort of assurance. Bushiroad President Kidani Takaki will serve as executive producer, while Nakamura Ko of Bang Dream fame will be penning the original story. As for the soundtrack itself, six music producers will be tasked with creating the sound for the game, so players will be able to experience music across genres.
In D4DJ Groovy Mix, players will take on the role of an inexperienced DJ who has to learn the ropes by mastering numerous techniques to create original music from a large library of original songs. You will be able to develop your own medley via the medley mode. With the inclusion of a fully-voiced original story and you will be able to learn more about the life of the several D4DJ units. Gacha is of course the name of the game here, although how it impact gameplay is unknown. However as you might expect, cards with the highest rarity can be transformed into an animated live 2D version, so there’s that to look forward to.
With the pre-registration campaign underway, all players will be rewarded with rare characters and some gacha tickets to work with once the number reaches a certain figure. Should the goal be exceeded, the developer will be introducing additional rewards down the line. Rhythm games are a dime and a dozen, so it would be interesting to see what Bushiroad is able to do with this. If the idea interests you, be sure to drop by the official website for more details.
