Sword Art Online – henceforth referred to as SAO – will have collaborations with Persona 5 Royal! The collaboration events will be in SAO Memory Defrag, and SAO Integral Factor. It would be reasonable to expect some kind of story scenario involving the SAO cast and the Persona 5 cast in these collaborations, and playable guest characters.
For now, the only confirmed thing is that yes, these collabs are happening. Considering it’s Royal, new character Kasumi Yoshizawa could be making an appearance too. More information about the nature of these collabs will be available February 2020. You can check out the pretty cool cut in with Kirito and Joker on the official website.
Memory Defrag and Integral Factor are both available in English on iOS and Android. Going by typical trends, it’s likely the Japanese servers will have the events first before the English ones. Another Eden did launch their own Persona 5 Royal collab simultaneously, so we’ll have to see what the publisher decides.
In the mean time, Persona 5 Royal will be launching 31 March outside of Japan, while on the console side of SAO, Alicization Lycoris releases 22 May. There is also Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers which releases 20 February in Japan, with a western release date still unknown.
