Publisher CyberAgent has just announced that its upcoming mobile aerial combat game Kick-Flight is set to launch globally towards the end of January 2020.
To recap, Kick-Flight is a 4 on 4, real-time action game, with battles occurring in the air. Tap, swipe and perform actions by interacting with your device’s screen. The game was originally set for a release within 2019, which has has since been delayed.
The game will be free to play, with in-app purchases, as is customary. However unlike other gacha-centric games, “Kicker Tickets” appear not to be able to give duplicates, so you can be assured you will always get a new character! Players will lock-on to their opponents when in battle. Special skills are also usable! Dash around in the air as you avoid your opponents’ attacks. Multiplayer team-based games are not particularly uncommon, so it would be interesting to see how this stands out from the pack. Everything appears to be fast and frantic, so if you are the type to be engaged in gameplay at all times, this might just be your cup of tea. Balancing would be something to take into consideration of course, since that usually makes or breaks such titles that are supported by gacha. Keeping free-to-play users invested while encouraging them and whales to spend have always been a feat to tackle for developers, but given CyberAgent’s experience in the field, there shouldn’t be any real concerns.
Perhaps it’s surprising to see a game not yet available in Japan to be also readily available worldwide. Pre-registrations are currently up, so why not jump on the current? Given that this is one of CyberAgent’s bigger releases for the year, you can be sure we will be hearing more about just as launch date rolls around.
