Welcome to the Marvel Super War Assassins Classroom. If you haven’t read it already, you should first check out the starter guide that I wrote previously.
Marvel Super War: Assassins Classroom
Every couple of days, I will be going more in-depth into each role and how to play them more effectively. As today’s title says, we’ll be talking about Assassins. Currently, the three best Assassins are Beast, Quicksilver and Proxima Midnight. As such, I’ll be writing in detail how to play them. Comment on our Facebook page if you’d like to see a specific hero guide in the future!
Beast
Beast’s kit is simple and straightforward. All your abilities are catered towards getting to your target and dealing burst damage. Max your Skill 2 (Bestial Raid) for the
slow if the enemy team isn’t very mobile (no blinks, leaps, etc). Otherwise, max your Skill 1 (Bestial Fury) instead.
Tip 1: Controlling Ult + Traversing the map with it
Your ult (Predatory Shadow) let’s you travel long distances very quickly. This is what makes Beast good, because you can join a fight or setup a gank very effectively. You can use it to cover about one third of the map and you should reach your target with a little extra time leftover on your ult. In a teamfight or when you’re close to your target, you can also activate it and path back and forth to let your ult build up first.
Tip 2: Passive is important
Your passive, Savagery, deals a lot of damage and gives you a lot of movement speed and survivability. You will never be able to kill people if you don’t use it between all your abilities. In fact, most Marvel Super War assassins will need to master how to weave autos into their combos. The perfect combo to assassinate a target will be Ult > Auto > 2 > Auto > 1 > chase and auto. While doing the combo, be sure to keep your joystick pushed towards where your target will be running away to. That way they can’t put too much distance between you two.
Item Build
Firstly, you want your jungling item Twilight Beads. Then you want your boots, Hunting Greaves. Your first two items will give you a good amount of attack speed, which works great with Beast’s kit. If the enemy is full Energy damage or full Physical damage, you could instead get Upgraded Hydra Boots/Hydra Boots. Next you want Dual Blade for the lifesteal so that you can keep on your target without buying tank items, The last three items can be anything you like, as long as it either gives you tankiness or burst. I suggest more tankiness, so get Stormbreaker (some HP + Armor Shred), Immortal Glaive (lots of HP, some damage + a shield) or Titan’s Glory (when pressed, you become immune to CC for 5 seconds.)
Quicksilver
Quicksilver is very sticky and can chase down most champions with ease. His first two skills are pretty straightforward but his ultimate can make or break a teamfight. The impact of his ultimate is what makes Quicksilver one of the top Assassins in the game. Max your Skill 2 first, as it deals more damage and you can clear the jungle faster.
Tip 1: Your Ult can literally kill your whole team
Your ult (Spatial Relativity) is an enormous engage tool stuck onto an Assassin. After you activate it, a golden bar will tick down under you health bar. The golden bar will countdown for 3 seconds, after which Quicksilver will emit a pretty big sphere that will last 3 seconds. All units caught in it will be slowed by 80 percent, it’s almost like a 3 second stun. You never ever want to catch an ally in this, as it is basically a death sentence. Instead, you should stay away from the fight while your ult charges up. Then, use your Skill 2 to dash towards where you want the ult to be just as the gold bar is about to deplete. Practice doing this. A lot. This is what separates the good Quicksilvers and the best Quicksilvers.
Tip 2: Weaving autos + what is my combo?
Just like Beast, your passive should be used between all your skill casts. After each skill cast, your next attack will be a blinking strike that deals a hefty amount of damage. Your combo should be 2 > Auto > 1 > Auto > 2 > Auto. If they’re not dead, you can keep smacking them with auto attacks until your Skill 1 or 2 cools down again. Use this with Tip 1 for the perfect team fight each time (assuming your team mates aren’t all feeding)
Item Build
Firstly, you want your jungling item Quantum Rifle. Normally you get some kind of boots for your 2nd item but Quicksilver has so many blinks and dashes that you don’t really need a pair. So instead you can just build a Nightsword instead. This will replace boots and give tons of damage since you’re gonna get the 60% movement speed boost from this item everytime you use your passive and auto attack. To supplement the lack of boots, we will then also get Double Daggers for the movement speed, damage, cooldown and armor pen. The last item that I consider core on Quicksilver is Stormbreaker, for the cooldown and armor pen. The last two items will be pretty flexible, but you want more damage. You shouldn’t be taking much damage anyway, because you always want to fight only when your ult is available. Items to go for could be Gungnir (more armor pen), Immortal Glaive (shield), Heimdall’s Sword (resist energy and reduce enemy healing).
Proxima Midnight
Proxima Midnight, (henceforth called Proxie) is very mobile but usually has to be in the thick of a fight to be fully effective. There are a lot of mistakes that can be made while playing her, since all her abilities are blinks. However, she has the best survivability out of these three top tier Assassins.
Tip 1: Eclipse Raid gives you Fighter/Bruiser levels of tankiness
Your Skill 1, Eclipse Raid gives you a lot of shielding. A lot of it. At max level and full items, you get about 500HP worth of shield on cast, which goes up by 150 each time you deal damage in the next 5 seconds up to 5 times. That’s 500+(150*5)=1300HP. And I’m lowballing that number. So don’t worry about being in the thick of things. As long you’re constantly doing damage while Eclipse Raid is protecting you, you’re gonna be fine.
Tip 2: Using your passive
Again, your passive should be used between all your skill casts. After each skill cast, your next attack will be also make you dash in the direction that you’re holding your joystick. This can be used to escape or get closer to your target. Your combo should be 1 > Auto > 2 > Auto > 1 > Auto. It will take some practice but eventually you’ll be able to maneuver while casting all your skills perfectly.
Tip 3: Hold on to your ult
Proxie’s ult Spear of Fate is a huge range ability that executes and blinks you to your target if they’re under 15% health. Therefore, most of the times you can use it after doing your combo. You usually want to save it so that you can still get the kill if your target Blinks away. You might also want to let your target get further then you can use them as a blink to get away from any enemies who are hitting you. Keep in mind that your ult will hit the first enemy hero, so make sure you have a clear shot if you’re using it this way. Another use is to immediately execute your target and get the huge shield to continue fighting in a team fight.
Tip 4: Run away to live another day
Proxie’s Skill 2 (Terror’s Shadow) is not only a great CC skill, it can be used as an escape tool. Don’t forget that if you cast it and there’s no enemy targets where she lands, she will leap forward a second time. So if a fight turns sour, you can use your Skill 2 to get out by aiming it away from the fight. For good measure, you might also want to use your Skill 1 to dash away if you’re outnumbered. Keep in mind that your ult is really long ranged so you could always snipe someone with it after you’ve gotten to a safe spot.
Item Build
As usual, jungle item first, Quantum Rifle. Proxie has lots of gank potential so you want Rocket Boots to zoom around the map constantly. We will then get a Nightsword, for the same reasons as Quicksilver. For the last three items, you just want raw Attack Damage. The only item I do not recommend is actually Twilight Blade. That’s because you’re not able to use the Crit stat that efficiently. You do not build any other crit items on her. Godslayer is 200 gold less, has only 10 less attack damage, but gives +7% Movement Speed and a better passive. Other possible items are Double Daggers, Titan’s Glory, Heimdall’s Sword or Immortal Glaive.
