ETERNAL to launch in early 2020

Japan-based publisher Asobimo has just announced that its upcoming mobile MMORPG Eternal will be having its third CBT in February 2020, and therefore the release date has been pushed back to early 2020 as well. A total of 30,000 beta testers are being recruited, so anyone can partake in the game’s refinement prior to launch.

As part of the beta test, there will be the addition of three new systems, namely Guild, Marketplace and Battlefield. Guilds in the game will be able to accommodate up to 50 players, which is a fairly reasonable number given the platform it will be running on. Marketplace is also straightforward in that it acts as a platform for players to trade their items and equipment. Battlefield meanwhile entails 15 versus 15 real-time battles.

Other things we know about the game so far:

Over 100 unique quests
Mount and pet system
4 playable classes (Warrior, Paladin, Wizard, Priest)
2 PvE dungeons for 5-player parties (with matchmaking system)

While no further details were disclosed, the game is close to its final version, so if you do happen to try out the beta, it is going to be more or less the real thing.

To reiterate, Eternal is an MMORPG smartphone project by Asobimo and is the culmination of the company’s decade-long experience in the space since launching Iruna in 2008. The primary draw of the game are the character designs by renowned illustrator Yoshitaka Amano, a name that might be familiar to fans of the Final Fantasy franchise. The game focuses on the war between the nations of Nordania and Ordo, and players take on the role of the protagonist who must fight against dark creatures and protect their country from the invasion of nefarious forces.
