The main story of Alternative Rap Battle is split into two parts: Common and Individual routes. The Individual routes will focus on your chosen division from the start of the game. Rap battle scenes are in the story, original to the game. The battle within the game differs from the CDs, so will run on different rules.

The player character is confirmed to be male, with his profile kept secret for now. Though the game is under the Otomate label, it will not contain any romance elements. The game was originally meant for a December 2019 release, but has been delayed to March 2020 for quality assurance reasons. Dates are still subject to change.
