SEA Games 2019 Esports Day 1 streaming surpasses 1 million views!

The SEA Games 2019 esports events are well underway, and Day 1 saw over 1 million views alone! The esports division officially opened yesterday, and with thanks to your overwhelming requests to view the games remotely, Razer has made the esports event available online via live streams! The leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, and the official esports partner for the SEA Games, brings the games to fans!

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has recognised and acknowledged the event. Looking at streaming viewership numbers, the high demand for esports in the region is quite apparent! Razer observed close to 2 million views on the first day of the games, including approximately 70,000 concurrent views. Online streaming platforms included Facebook, YouTube and Twitch. Razer predicts an overall viewing of over 100 million on official closure of the games.

The SEA Games is an eleven-country international sporting event sanctioned by the IOC. It is the first to include esports as a medaled competitive discipline. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, Dota 2, Starcraft II, Tekken 7 and Hearthstone are the featured events. Athletes will be battling it out to get the first gold medal in each discipline.

Viewership results were gathered from the first day of the esports events, and will be ongoing until 10 December 2019, Tuesday. Members of the public are able to enter for free and watch the event at the San Juan Centre, Manila, Philippines. Now that Day 1 is done, let’s see how Day 2 for the SEA Games fares!
