Fantasy Earth Genesis: Pre-release Developer Q&A

Ahead of its global release, Fantasy Earth Genesis from ASOBIMO’s associate company Quantum Games, has done a pre-release developer Q&A! They speak to Tomoyuki Kono (Producer, ASOBIMO) and Suguru Uchiyama (Director of Supervision, SQUARE ENIX) regarding the development of Fantasy Earth Genesis. The game itself will be released globally in 2019, with its official website now life!

On the development history of Fantasy Earth Genesis, it is the latest mobile entry to the classic Fantasy Earth series. Uchiyama talks about SQUARE ENIX having exciting discussions on bringing a new spark to the series, upon which ASOBIMO, a mobile MMORPG veteran, stepped in to explore the opportunity together.

Kono mentions how they were looking for an IP collaboration. Their visions intertwined for the Fantasy Earth series, and thus began their co-developing.

The series had been on PC prior, and they’ve recreated the 50 vs 50 PvP core gameplay on mobile. Likewise, you can also find the deep cosmetic system and focus on strategy. Kono talks about how that 50 vs 50 was challenging to bring to mobile, needing to strike a balance between stable visual performances and character animations. Regular discussions were done with SQUARE ENIX to iron out those bugs, and the reinvention was successful. Summoned creatures have likewise seen a recreation.

Character development and customization are new to Fantasy Earth Genesis. From a developer standpoint, players are allowed to grow with their characters as they gain new abilities. Customization means a freedom to tailor characters to their preferred playstyle. Mercenaries are available for recruit as powerful support.

There are “Alliance Leaders” in addition to summoned creatures too. Each Alliance has a different leader they can deploy to fight summoned creatures or support players, allowing for more tactical freedom.

Both Kono and Uchiyama are excited to see Fantasy Earth Genesis‘ global releasing soon in 2019, and they look forward to seeing you play the classic series on mobile. You can be assured they will continue to work hard to provide a great gaming experience to players.
