This time we bear a rundown for Diablo IV‘s world and lore. Have you seen the systems and features yet? If not, check that out right here.
STORY
Players will be in the world of Sanctuary. The story tone will revolve around darkness, and about bringing back a “specific vibe”. The story is said to be more grounded. An example of a village was given, with the focus being about the residents within. It will be more visual as well, with the use of the smaller props to set the atmosphere. See the details, and you’ll learn something. There’s mention of a blood bishop who’s committed evil (but of course). Everything is connected to a quest, or story development.
Continuing off from Diablo 3, when the Black Soulstone was consumed, it had returned to reality. Lilith and Inarius had created Sanctuary to hide eternal conflict. Well, now the daughter of Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, will be walking the world once more.
MAP
The maps will be more easily viewed to locate places. The northern area of Scosglen is home to the druids, a savage and untamed land. South of that is the Dry Steppes, ravaged by war, where it’s be predator or prey. Eastward to the Steppes is the Fractured Peaks, a snowy mountain region. They carry a classic, gothic Victorian theme, and is home to religious zealots. Residents are unfortunately, living in high anxiety.
Hawezar lies to the south, one with poisonous ground. The fauna would gladly feast on your flesh in this place of madness and black magic. Come here if you want to be forgotten, or to be lost. You can seek the swamp witches here for knowledge. However, these snake worshippers will be asking a hefty price.
Last but not least is Kehjistan, the last bastion of Zekarum’s base. It’s been the worst hit in Diablo IV, overflowing with dark energy. The people have lost hope, making them easy pickings for demons.
MONSTERS
The lore of the monsters say they will find, kidnap and torture you. These monsters of legends within Sanctuary bring disease when they attack. Various monsters and bosses have been showcased.
The Drowned Seahag is a dungeon boss, using geysers to attack you. The Drowned Juggernaut has a wave attack. Ashava, the Pestilent is capable of appearing anywhere in the world. Duriel, Lord of Pain, will make his return. The Maggot King will be using maggots to attack too.
Lilith isn’t the only mother of the Nephalem, with more to come. The Black Soulstone’s current state is separated, but will be returning. They’re more coy about the appearance of the Lords of Hell, only giving a “maybe”. As for fan favourite characters, that is also a “maybe”, and will be integrated should it be organic to the lore.
So here’s the sneak peek into Diablo IV‘s world and lore. Got your gears turning?
