Level Up KL was an event that surrounds mostly for game developers and also industrial people who are related or want to involve into the game development/gaming industry. With the approach from the communities outside of the industry, many has spoken that they don’t have the chance to meet the local developers or even to explore their games. So, this year Level Up KL will be having 2 different events at the same time. But before that, let’s talk about their highlights of the event.
Another great year for all game development and gaming. Level Up KL this year will be happening on the from the 2nd of November to 10th of November. But this separates into a few sections of activities. For Level Up KL Biz, there will be activities such as
- Sea Game Jam
- Sea Game Awards
- Exhibition and showcase
- Industry Conference
- Business Connection Program (BCP)
- Networking Night
- Masterclass Workshops
These activities will be core for people who wants to know more about the industry or even to improve their current skills by learning the important points from the speakers.
Level Up KL Play will have a more different set of activities such as,

- Talks
- Gifts
- Giveaways
- Booths for Goods and Games
- and many more!

This year with the fifth installment for the event, the Vice President of Digital Creative Content, MDEC had this to say,
“We are proud to see Malaysia’s game ecosystem grow by leaps and bounds over the years; more so, being one of the primary drivers of this explosive growth. The strong attendance and demand we received from LEVEL UP KL 2018 were a testament to the healthy game market in Malaysia and Southeast Asia that we see today,”
He added,
“In 2019, we strengthened our efforts to position Malaysia as a regional powerhouse for the games industry through the introduction of the Digital Content Ecosystem (DICE) strategy. LEVEL UP KL 2019 is another effort that validates Malaysia as the preferred destination for the regional game development ecosystem. It is the ‘Not-to-be-missed Event for 2019’ as it will be packed with so many exciting announcements and new content from both globally-recognised Malaysian studios and world-renowned companies!”
Well said indeed. The gaming industry has highly developed ever since events and tournaments are now happening almost every biweekly. The game development industry had jump drastically with the recent news of “GigaBash” and “Bake n Switch” from the local companies. As a proud gamer myself, I wish all of them remain at their best interest and go and reach another level.

· LEVEL UP KL BIZ 2019 continues the LEVEL UP KL tradition of bringing regional game developers and industry leaders together to interact, learn, and share knowledge with each other. It will serve as a platform for key announcements from local and international game developers, featuring expert-led workshops, talks, business connections, a regional awards event, 36-hour jam session, game creation discussions, and more. · Event Details o Date: 2 – 8 November 2019 o Venue: Connexion Conference & Events Centre (CCEC)

Activities · Conference o There are more than 70 speakers lined up, most from the games dev communities around the world, who will share their best practices and learnings on the 7 – 8 November · Exhibition & Showcase o Key highlights for this highly anticipated event include the best of Malaysian-made games that are made ready for the global audience and demo sessions for current and upcoming international titles. · SEA Game Awards o LEVEL UP KL will, once again, host the SEA Game Awards. In its 3rd year, the awards aim to recognize and celebrate the creativity, artistry, and technical genius of the finest developers and game producers from around the region. It also continues to uphold the creative and technical excellence of the highest standards in the Southeast Asian video games industry! o 10 award categories are up for grabs for outstanding, artistic, creative, technical, and gameplay achievements – all made by SEA game developers. · SEA Game Jam o A 36-hour game jam organised by LEVEL UP KL where game developers from all over the Southeast Asia, and other parts of the world, work together to create game concepts in an intense yet engaging collaborative environment.

| 1. About LEVEL UP KL PLAY
· The inaugural LEVEL UP KL PLAY aims to become Malaysia’s ultimate games showcase convention. The public is welcome to attend this video games extravaganza and experience as well as celebrate the very best that Malaysia and Southeast Asia games industries have to offer. The two-day games festival will feature various activities, such as game-demos of soon-to-launch AAA and indie titles for both PCs and consoles, Grand Finals for multiple esports leagues, a video games concert, and the Who’s Who of video games meet-and-greet events.
· Event Details o Date: 9 – 10 November 2019 o Venue: Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC)
2. Activities · Exhibition & Showcase o Key highlights for this massive event include the very best of Malaysian-made games – both current and soon-to-be released; games merchandising and bonus content; esports games streaming sessions; career and matchmaking area for the games industry; enriched content immersion, and demo sessions for current and upcoming international titles.
· Esports Tournaments o Top athletes from Southeast Asia will be facing off across both days in popular esports titles like Mobile Legends, TEKKEN 7, Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), and Pro Evolution Soccer 2019.
· Cosplay Competition o There will be streamers and celebrities joining in on the fun and will be dressing up as game characters. The public will get th chance to cosplay too and can participate in a competition.
· Video Game Orchestra o The Boston-based group will perform “rockestral” arrangements of music from popular video games, featuring a rock band, orchestra, and choir! The ensemble contributed to original soundtracks of for games like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Cytus, Sonic the Hedgehog, No Straight Roads, and Re:Legend. |
