Doraemon has been a pushing out games since their early age of production. Today, we are proud to present you our review of their latest Nintendo Switch title, “Doraemon Story of Seasons”!. This is a spin off from the Story of Seasons franchise. So, let’s chill our minds and grow our farm!
If you haven’t checked out the trailer yet, see it below!
Storyline
Doing a spin off version of the main series is always a challenge for the developers and the story writers. At the start of the game, Nobita and his friends start off adventuring and stumble upon a mysterious plant planted behind the school they attend. Things don’t go by peacefully; after they noticed the plant, strange things happen. Winds blow strongly and all of them get blown into another dimension! They all end up in the town called “Shizen Town”. This town has a legend where there’s a huge tree called “Elder Tree” which is located in the middle of the town, was planted by a goddess! All of them start to go their own way but Nobita is left alone, as no one wanted him. But, later a guy named Harmon introduces Nobita to a deserted farm and even gifted a house to him!
Gameplay
After the short introduction, you are given control. Following the Story of Seasons franchise gameplay, you will be able to grow crops, get animals and expand your farm. Other than that you will be also handling friendship levels with the citizens. This part is important as the gameplay does not allow any marriage. This friendship feature is one of the main goals that you will need to achieve within the game in order to get more of the other features.
Your main objective in the game is still to find a way to get Nobita and his friends back to where they came from. So, the friendship system acts as one of the main attractions. The goddess requests 4 different items in order to help Nobita and the gang to go back, and all of these items needs you to be close with different people.
Within the game, there will be also a feature that allows you to capture bugs, explore and also finding different items that you can sell!
It wouldn’t be a Doraemon game without having items from the Doraemon universe. A few that we tested are the Super Glove that will allow you to open up 9 spaces for your seeds. Another one would be the Spare Pocket; this acts as a shortcut to reach your storage at home so that you don’t have to make trips to get some items from your storage!
Our experience with the game is excellent. Although the core gameplay revolves around the same attributes as the Story of Seasons franchise, but the twist for the friendship status and the extra Doraemon items made it quite interesting to progress!
Without a doubt, if you like games that lets you relax, farming or even just Doraemon, we highly recommend it to you. It is interesting how different people focus on the different items! We have a few people in the office even playing right now!
Enough of what I can say, I want to hear about your opinion, would you like to give it a try? The game is currently out for Nintendo Switch and in Steam.
