The Playstation blog has revealed the box art of Final Fantasy VII Remake for America and Europe! It very much pays homage to the original North American Final Fantasy VII box art. Cloud is standing ready to take on Shinra Corporation, wielding his trusty Buster Sword.
You can see Materia glowing at the base of the sword. This attention to detail is truly an example of the love and care that is going into remaking the classic JRPG of the past. The blog post recaps Tokyo Game Show reveals, along with new screenshots. You can check out our hands-on experience at the event here!
Classic Mode will be available in the game! This mode is for those who prefer the turn-based battles, without needing to split attention between blocking and dodging. The ATB gauge will automatically fill when you enter combat. Once filled, you’ll be able to issue commands and expend a charge. It will be familiar controls, with a fresh new look!
You would have already seen Summons used. If you haven’t, you can check them out here! They’re back, and better than ever in FFVIIR. Each hero will be able to equip a Summon materia, which you can then use to unleash these powerful helpers in battle for a limited time! A gauge will fill up over time when you have the relevant Materia equipped. Ifrit will be battling independently and can also perform special commands. On the timer reaching zero, he’ll unleash his ultimate attack, Hellfire!
The blog post reveals a sneak peek at the Materia we’ll be seeing in the game!
Last but not least, the mini-games return in FFVIIR. Much like the original, the squats mini-game will have you input a sequence of buttons to defeat your challengers.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will be launching 3 March 2020. Preordering from the Playstation Store will net you a Dynamic Theme featuring Cloud and Sephiroth. Or maybe you’d prefer the collector’s editions? Either way, can’t wait to get back into Midgar!
