The Mega Man X DiVE closed beta ran from 12 – 16 September, and we gave the game a shot! As the story goes, the player is playing Mega Man X, and finds themselves in the Deep Log! RiCO, the Deep Log Navigator, enlists the player to clear out Irregular Data, and it goes from there.
The CBT featured stages modelled after Mega Man X, fitting considering how the player starts. Gameplay should be familiar to Mega Man veterans, and is easy to pick up for newbies. Movement is controlled using a virtual joystick. Jumping, sliding and skills are on separate buttons. You can hold down the weapon button to fire. You can also do different movements by holding down a button and sliding it over to the action you want to do!
Each stage will have 3 missions. You can also skip levels after you clear all three. There’s also a bar at the bottom of the map, providing rewards for mission completion milestones. Keep an eye out for the recommended power levels for the stages! Stages may also contain hidden items, so get exploring!
Mega Man X DiVE has a gacha system, called “Capsule”. You can get both characters and weapons here. Duplicates get turned into Hunter/Weapon Patches. You can exchange these Patches in the shop for “Memory Pieces” for upgrades.
Characters and weapons both have Star Levels. Weapons also have regular levels, and can only be upgraded up to the player’s current level. Star Levels have no restriction, but require Memory Pieces for their maximum potential. Characters and weapons can be further customized with skills. Your weapons can’t be spammed continuously, so keep an eye out for the number of charges/energy!
It being a CBT, some features were a little unstable, so I did not try all of them out. So far though, it seems to be a light offering of what you’d expect from a Mega Man game, as a taster for the full game. Let’s hope it comes out soon!
