It’s been about 2 years since the Nintendo Switch was released, and Nintendo appears to be looking to improve on it. There’s the Nintendo Switch Lite, improving on the portability aspect. The Joy-Con seems to be the next enhancement on the list.
This new Joy-Con is hinged in this patent that appeared in Japan’s official patent database, as well as at the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office). The image shows the top half of the Joy-Con being angled downwards when attached to the Switch.
It might seem the bezels of the Nintendo Switch display are thinner, long with a larger display. Since it is only a patent, there’s no guarantee the product would actually come out.
What do you think of this Joy-Con design? How ergonomic do you think it could get? For those gotten used to the standard Joy-Cons, these would likely seem unnecessary, but Nintendo continues to innovate. We’ll have to wait and see where Nintendo will go with these.
