Fire Emblem Heroes is a tactical role-playing game and it is free with some optional in-app purchases. Released on February 2, 2017, it is now available to download from iOS and Android platforms. Here are some basic guides to help you through the game.
Battles
A short tutorial will be given when you first started your journey. The tutorial will be presenting you the story of the game then teach you how to move in maps and battle. Every character has a certain number of steps allowed to move, which are indicated by blue boxes. You can just simply swipe across the board to move your character. Swipe your hero to where the opponent stands to enter a battle.
There are few classes in the game, some are better with combat up-close while others are better at attacking from a distance. It is important for you to figure out which hero suits the situation and where it should placed at. A special skill which could deal great damage is unlock for the character after a set number of moves. Besides, some characters have the ability to help teammates such as reviving them or strengthen their defense.
Be aware of the Weapon Triangle that determines which weapons do better against others. Weapons are color-coded, swords are red, axes are green and lances are blue. To simplify things up, swords beat axes, axes beat lances and lances beat swords. No worries, you can access the explanation of the Weapon Triangle anytime in the game too.
Summoning heroes
Fire Emblem Heroes uses a random gacha draw system for the characters. However, you can choose the type of character by summoning from the crystal with corresponding color and shape. There are Red, Green, Blue and Black crystals that correspond to the heroes and their weapon of choice. Each hero summoned comes with a Star Level, ranging from 3 star (bronze) to 5 star (gold). It will take less Orbs when you summon more at once, so try to collect 20 Orbs before you summons to maximize the discount.
Skills
Skills can be learned by heroes to strengthen how they battle. Heroes gain Skill Points after defeating enemies or level up. Skill Points are used to obtain skills such as weapon upgrade or an active or passive skill.
Active Skills requires a certain number of moves to activate while Passive Skills are always on. Take note that passive skills are normally buffs to adjacent allies.
Leveling up heroes
Your hero can get a level up when it is involved in a battle that results in defeating an opponent and enough experience points are earned. Level up improves hero stats automatically. There is another way to level up your hero too, by using gems.
Awaken heroes
You can also awakens your hero which evolve/transforms them from 1 star rarity into a 5 star rarity hero. Their stats and level cap will be increase together when their rarity increase too. Another way to make your hero more powerful!
Hero awakening requires your hero to reach level 20, with some cost such as coloured badges and feathers (vary depending on your hero’s rarity).
Quests
There are quite a number of quests for you throughout the game which in turn gives you some nice rewards. These are often pretty simple and are refreshed regularly (often once a month) so keep checking back to see if new quest comes out. You can check your quests from the fountain at bottom right corner in the Home tab of the game. You will need to come back here when you complete a quest in order to claim your rewards too.
Enjoy Fire Emblem Heroes and have fun!
